Have you ever walked by a window in your home only to feel cold air flowing through, or do you see cracks around the window where there is light shining through? These issues can be fixed so that there is no longer cold air coming into your home, causing your heat to run more than it should. When your heat runs because there is cold air coming inside, this will increase your electric bill.
If you don’t have the money for the window repairs, then you can put a piece of plastic around the entire window. When you place the plastic, use a hair dryer to shrink the plastic to fit securely around the window. This is not a permanent solution.
As soon as you are able, get the window replaced and the area around the window fixed so that it fits to the window. If necessary, get the entire frame restructured so that there are no cracks on the sides of the window. This will greatly reduce the cost of your heating bill because you won’t have excess air coming through the home.
There are several online sites where you can look at different types of energy efficient windows like Central Roofing, Siding and Windows at centralexteriors.com.
